Our Commitment to Supplier Diversity

The Association of American Medical Colleges (AAMC)'s commitment to diversity, equity, and inclusion extends to our suppliers, which are an important extension of our team. We prioritize the equal and fair treatment of all suppliers, recognizing that diversity accelerates innovation, promotes excellence, and contributes to economic growth in the communities we serve.

One way we act on this commitment is by establishing relationships with qualified businesses owned by women, people of color, people with disabilities, LGBTQIA+ people, veterans, and others who have been historically marginalized. We actively seek small and diverse suppliers who provide innovative products, services, and technology, offer competitive pricing, and exemplify ethical behavior in outsourcing efforts to meet business requirements. In addition, we weave supplier diversity into our business strategies and work to include diverse suppliers across sourcing activities.

To accomplish this, program managers and business leaders work closely with the AAMC’s Sr. Supplier Diversity Analyst to identify and integrate qualified small and diverse businesses into our supplier base, so they are provided with meaningful opportunities to compete for our business.

As we lead and serve the academic medicine community, we recognize that purchasing products, services, and technology from qualified small and diverse suppliers is one way to support the local communities where we live and work. We believe that supporting these businesses results in the continuous improvement of our supply chain, the expansion of our goals to address health care disparities, and the overall economic success of our members, suppliers, and communities. This effort makes the AAMC stronger and demonstrates our organization's social responsibilities and commitment to excellence.
