The Medical School Operations (MSO) unit serves and leads the business operations and planning entities of medical schools.

The MSO unit connects academic medicine leaders who administer and manage medical school operations and finances to AAMC resources that support their work. 

We strive to facilitate long-term, positive organizational change by offering data, tools, and research to help medical schools: 

  • Change their business operations and institutional policies.
  • Inform their strategic planning. 
  • Improve their overall financial health.

The annual AAMC Faculty Salary Report displays total compensation of full-time medical school faculty broken out by rank, degree, department/specialty, school ownership, region, and — starting with the FY 2019 data — gender.
