The 2005 AAMC Physician Workforce Research Conference, "Expanding the Science, Enhancing the Impact," brought together nearly 200 attendees from such diverse groups as medical school deans, specialty society members, state officials, university researchers, and representatives of national physician associations.
There was a vast amount of research presented on such topics as the impact of women on the physician workforce, diversity in medicine and its implications for practice patterns, how the number of retiring physicians may affect supply, ways we can address workforce needs in underserved areas, and the U.S. physician workforce and global health.
