Fourth Annual AAMC Physician Workforce Research Conference to Examine Trends in the Supply of U.S. Doctors

Leading national and international workforce experts will convene April 30 - May 2, 2008, in Crystal City, Va., for the AAMC's Fourth Annual Physician Workforce Research Conference. The conference is part of the association's ongoing efforts to monitor, analyze, and advance research on the U.S. physician supply.  

Highlights of the 2008 Physician Workforce Conference include:

  • Keynote address by David Satcher, Former Surgeon General of the United States
  • Plenary Presentations
    • Variations in Care: Assessing the Methods and Workforce Implications
    • Innovative Practice Models: Will they Help Reduce the Demand for Physicians?
    • The Patient Centered Medical Home: The Salvation for Primary Care?
  • Breakout panels featuring new research on diversity, GME, state workforce policy, medical school expansion, workforce research methods, NPs/PAs, practice location and retention, primary care workforce, and the HRSA workforce collaborative.
  • Pre-conference workshop on state workforce planning, Wednesday, April 30, 1-5pm
