Why transition to a computerized MCAT exam?
A computerized MCAT provides:
- more opportunities to take the MCAT in a calendar year;
- a shorter test day;
- a quicker score release process;
- a standardized testing environment;
- enhanced testing security; and
- smaller examinee testing groups.
What is the history of computerized MCAT
exam administrations?
Since 2001, there have been international computerized MCAT administrations.
The computerized MCAT is now available in 8 countries outside the United
States. In 2004, the computerized MCAT was introduced domestically in
the U.S.
When will the MCAT exam be completely
computerized?
The August 2006 MCAT administration was the last to employ the paper
version of the MCAT. Beginning in January 2007, all MCAT administrations
will be computerized.
When can I register for each test date in 2008?
For 2008, registration will usually open 120 days before a scheduled
test date. However, for the initial January 2008 dates, registration opened
on October 30, 2007.
How can I register for the 2008 MCAT administrations?
Registration will continue to be handled online through the MCAT Web site.
How much will the computerized MCAT cost?
The regular examination fee for the computerized MCAT in 2008 will
remain $210the same cost as 2007.
Will the paper format of the MCAT be available
in 2008?
No. With full implementation of the computerized MCAT in 2008, paper
MCAT administrations will be discontinued.
