What's New for ERAS 2008?

Notice from the ERAS Fellowships Documents Office (EFDO)

To: All Fellowship Applicants Applying to Subspecialty Programs for the December Application Cycle

Due to the increasingly high volume of fellowship applicants applying to subspecialty training programs, the ERAS Fellowships Documents Office (EFDO) will require up to four weeks to scan and upload supporting documents to the ERAS PostOffice scheduled to open on Saturday, December 1, 2007. All fellowship applicants are urged to begin the fellowship application process early by securing a token and ERAS application materials to allow timely processing.

Submit your supporting documents to the EFDO in time for them to arrive by November 1, 2007 to ensure documents are ready when the ERAS PostOffice opens. Approach your letter writers now to ensure timely submission of your Letters of Recommendation (LoRs). Our goal is to upload as many supporting documents as possible to the ERAS PostOffice by mid-December.

We are committed to providing the resources necessary to ensure this goal is met; however, your timely submission of documents is critical in achieving this common goal. Please visit the ERAS Web site for a list of participating programs and specialties for the December Application Cycle.

ERAS Fellowships welcomes four new specialties for ERAS 2008:

  • Gynecologic Oncology
  • Interventional Cardiology
  • Neonatal/Perinatal Medicine
  • Pediatric Gastroenterology

The above specialties will follow the ERAS December application cycle, recruiting fellows that will begin training in July 2009.

Season Start for Applicants
ERAS opens on July 1, 2007 for all applicants to begin work on their applications; however, the timeline for applying to programs is modified based on the type of programs to which you are applying. Beginning on July 1, 2007, fellowship applicants may apply to July application cycle fellowship programs only.

New Features & Program Initiatives

ERAS continues to improve the applicant experience by including the following enhancements for ERAS 2008:

  • Improved application tools with expanded publication options
