Working Group 4: M.D./Ph.D. Program Funding

Cost Centers for MD, PhD Programs:

Tuition- remission or reduced. This was raised within the context of how programs deal with charging tuition for the MD, PhD students.

Stipends- This is simply the range of stipend support given by various programs. It reflects in part the cost of living, but also the presence of additional extramural or private funds.

Administrative Assistant 50-100%- This is the percentages that various institutions pay for the administrative assistant.

Program Director Salary 10-25%, 50%, $10,000 supplement- This reflects the various mechanisms for compensation for program directors given by institutions.

Travel- Money available for travel varied widely. Some institutions have no money while others pay for the students to go to at least one meeting. Program Director to Aspen Meeting Students
