Eligibility
The program is designed for individuals who hold doctoral level professional degrees in clinical disciplines.
Duration
Trainees complete a 36 credit Master of Science Degree which can be completed on a part-time basis within 2 years.
Thesis Requirement
Trainees may elect to write a thesis or to participate in a five-credit Research Practicum course.
Goals
The objective of this program is to equip trainees with the critical skills needed to develop and lead scientifically valid and ethically appropriate clinical research. The educational objectives include the following: acquire and maintain expertise in a specific area of clinical research (epidemiology, health services research, human genetics and research ethics); select and apply appropriate study design and statistical analysis; conduct clinical research with high ethical standards and in compliance with current legal and regulatory standards; write well-organized, logical journal publications, research proposals and grant applications; communicate scientific knowledge through verbal presentations; and lead and manage a productive career in clinical research.
