FindAResident Service & Features
Differentiating
the FindAResident Service
How does FindAResident differ from ERAS, NRMP, FREIDA, and other residency
recruitment services?
Other residency matching services have their limitations. FindAResident
is the most convenient and robust online service for filling open residency
and fellowship positions outside of ERAS
and NRMP. Although FindAResident
works with ERAS and NRMP, there are some important differences.
ERAS and NRMP:
- ERAS provides services for programs to electronically receive application
materials and supporting credentials from applicants and medical schools.
- NRMP provides matching services for programs to secure candidates
for residency and fellowship positions during established Match and
Scramble periods.
- Both offer PGY1 and PGY2 residency positions, as well as some fellowship
positions that begin in the upcoming July (or the following July for
some PGY2 and fellowship positions).
AMA-FREIDA (Fellowship and Residency Electronic Interactive Database):
- Provides information on ACGME accreditation and other program specific
information.
- Provides a forum to list open positions, providing only contact information
and minimal descriptions for program listings.
FindAResident provides:
- Year-round access to eligible candidates to help you fill unexpected
vacancies as they arise
- PGY1 through PGY6 residency and fellowship positions in all subspecialties
- User-controlled program management tools
- A private mailbox feature
- A customizable search engine
Can I use FindAResident and participate in the NRMP Match?
Residency and fellowship programs are encouraged to participate in the
NRMP Match system to secure candidates as appropriate. If you are unsuccessful
with the NRMP Match, FindAResident can be a good resource to identify
possible candidates. FindAResident works closely with the NRMP to ensure
the integrity of the Match and to encourage ethical behavior among all
users. Applicants who are matched to positions in the NRMP may not use
FindAResident to break their match agreements; the same holds true for
NRMP participant programs.
Therefore, during the Scramble and Post-Match period between mid-March
and July 1, applicants who have matched successfully with the NRMP may
not use FindAResident to contact programs with open positions in the year
that the applicant is matched. Programs may not advertise positions in
FindAResident during the ERAS season that should first be posted in ERAS
and the NRMP until after the release of Match results.
