What's New for ERAS 2009?

New Specialties

ERAS welcomes one new residency specialty for ERAS 2009:

  • Neurological Surgery

ERAS welcomes osteopathic residency programs to ERAS 2009.

ERAS Fellowships welcomes two new specialties for ERAS 2009:

  • Maternal-Fetal Medicine
  • Pediatric Hematology/Oncology

The above fellowship specialties will follow the ERAS December application cycle, recruiting fellows that will begin training in July 2010.

Season Start for Applicants
ERAS opens on July 1, 2008, for all applicants to begin work on their applications; however, the timeline for applying to programs is modified based on the type of programs to which you are applying. Beginning on July 1, 2008, osteopathic applicants may apply to osteopathic training programs only. Beginning on July 1, 2008, fellowship applicants may apply to July application cycle fellowship programs only. Both osteopathic and allopathic applicants may begin applying to allopathic residencies on September 1, 2008, as usual.

New Features and Changes for ERAS 2009

ERAS continues to improve the applicant experience by including the following enhancements for ERAS 2009:

  • Applicants may identify and finalize letter writers prior to certifying their application and applying to programs
  • Fee increased to $60 for NBME and NBOME exam score transcripts
  • Retooled Publications section to accommodate more publication types and future dates for oral and poster presentations
