Registration and Program Updates

What is ERAS Registration?

Registration with ERAS allows program staff to:

  • Indicate that your program will accept applications through ERAS.
  • Update the general program contact information that will be displayed to applicants.
  • Identify the type(s) of training that your program will offer.
  • Designate an ERAS program contact, the person to whom we send software instructions, manuals and other important ERAS information.

Tip: Be sure to include your program's Web address in your program listing to assist in directing applicants to your program for relevant application information including program accreditation, requirements and deadlines.

Who should register for ERAS?

ERAS registration is for fellowship, osteopathic residency and allopathic residency programs that wish to receive applications through ERAS.

For a list of participating specialties and programs, please visit Participating Specialties and Programs.

When should programs register for ERAS 2010?

Program registration for ERAS 2010 is now closed.

Registration memos were sent to programs the week of March 2nd. The memo included your program's login ID and password, which is used to access ERAS Account Maintenance (EAM). If you did not receive your login information or your program is newly accredited, please contact the ERAS HelpDesk at 202-828-0413 or erashelp@aamc.org.

What is the process for osteopathic program registration for ERAS 2010?

There are two options for ERAS registration for osteopathic programs.

The first option is the centralized approach wherein the GME office would be responsible for all recruitment activities. This option allows the DME to designate responsibility for ERAS to the GME office.

Note: If the centralized option is selected, ERAS will send all information to the program contact on file (DME or his/her designee) in the GME office. All information includes the ability to download registration and software installation instructions, User Guides, software upgrades information, etc. GME staff is also responsible for processing incoming applications and working with the DME and program staff to select applicants for the program.

The second option is the decentralized approach, which allows each program to be responsible for their own recruitment activities including program registration, installing software and downloading applications. The program contact in ERAS would be program staff (Program Director, coordinator, etc.) not GME staff; and this person would be responsible for running ERAS for their individual program.

Whichever option is selected, the DMEs have been advised to communicate their decision to their programs regarding whether the institution will use the centralized or decentralized approach to ERAS.

Note: ERAS staff is not able to respond to questions regarding DME instructions to programs. They may provide information regarding the ERAS registration process, but do not have the authority to control the recruitment process at individual institutions.

Osteopathic program staff should communicate with their DME to determine which option he/she has selected.
