BIO-key® WEB-key client

The BIO-key WEB-key client should be downloaded and installed for the express use of verifying the identity of applicants and matriculants using the AAMC's Biometric Identity Verification Service. Any other use is strictly prohibited.

For optimum performance you must first install the BIO-key WEB-key client to load the appropriate drivers for the fingerprint readers to be loaded correctly. You may need to have Administrative rights on your computer to install the BIO-key WEB-key client.

Downloading Instructions

To download the BIO-key WEB-key client from the BIO-key Web site:

  1. In the address bar of your Web browser type http://demo.bio-key.com (Please be advised that this Web site is external to the AAMC).

  2. Click Download WEB-key client here on the top-left of the screen.

  3. When prompted by your browser, select the location or directory where you would like to save the downloaded file.

  4. You must choose Save this program to disk. (Your computer desktop is a convenient and easy place to store and locate a file.)

  5. Click Save.

Fingerprint Readers

The Biometric Identity Verification Service pilot uses the UPEK TouchChip USB Fingerprint Readers.

Supported Operating Systems for the UPEK TouchChip USB Fingerprint Readers are:

  • Windows 98/ME/2000/XP/Server2003/Vista on x86 platform
  • XP/Server2003/Vista on x64 platform.

Care for Your Fingerprint Reader

Periodic cleaning of your fingerprint reader ensures optimum performance.

  1. Dampen a lint-free cloth or cotton swab with isopropyl alcohol.

  2. Gently rub the cloth horizontally across the sensor surface, starting from the top and moving down until entire sensor area is clean.

  3. Repeat process 2-3 times.

  4. Visually observe that no residual solution remains on the sensor.
