Biometric Identity Verification Service
Pilot year launches in June 2008!
Participating pilot schools
The first year of the Biometric Identity Verification Service will
be a pilot year. During the pilot year, ten schools will use this
service as the primary source of verifying the identity of applicants
and matriculants.
The following are the ten schools that will be participating in
the pilot:
- Northwestern University The Feinberg School of Medicine
- Oregon Health and Science University, School of Medicine
- Sanford School of Medicine of the University of South Dakota
- The Brody School of Medicine at East Carolina University
- University of Arizona College of Medicine - Phoenix
- University of Iowa Roy J. and Lucille A. Carver College of Medicine
- University of Mississippi Medical Center
- University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill School of Medicine
- University of South Florida College of Medicine
- University of Utah School of Medicine
Software Downloads
For optimum performance, you must first
install the BIO-key® WEB-key client to load the appropriate
drivers for the fingerprint reader to be loaded correctly.
Training
A Web-based training will be held Wednesday, July 2, 2008, 10 a.m. -
12 p.m. ET.
Fingerprint Readers
The Biometric Identity Verification Service pilot uses the UPEK
TouchChip USB Fingerprint Readers.
Supported Operating Systems for the UPEK TouchChip USB Fingerprint
Readers are:
- Windows 98/ME/2000/XP/Server2003/Vista on x86 platform
- XP/Server2003/Vista on x64 platform.
Care for your Fingerprint Reader
Periodic cleaning of your fingerprint reader ensures optimum performance.

Dampen a lint-free cloth or cotton swab with isopropyl alcohol.

Gently rub the cloth horizontally across the sensor surface,
starting from the top and moving down until entire sensor area
is clean.

Repeat process 2-3 times.

Visually observe that no residual solution remains on the
sensor.
Tip
Always keep a box of tissues and a bottle of hand sanitizer readily
accessible. You are guaranteed a quicker reading if a clean finger
is placed on the fingerprint reader.
