Initiatives in Patient Care
Advisory Panel on Health Care Delivery
Monitors significant trends and emerging issues in the health care financing
and delivery system to assess the implications for the academic medical
community. Panel membership comprises representatives across the spectrum
of the AAMC membership, including COTH CEOs, medical school deans, faculty
practice representatives and academic clinical physicians. The Panel provides
advice and counsel to AAMC staff and, as appropriate, makes recommendations
to the AAMC leadership on potential Association policy statements or initiatives.
Awards for Improving Health
Granted annually, two AAMC awards recognize excellence in improving the
nation's health. The David E. Rogers Award goes to a member of a medical
school faculty who has made major contributions to improving the health
and health care of the American people. The Outstanding Community Service
Award goes to a member institution or organization with a longstanding
commitment to meeting disadvantaged or underserved community needs.
Economic Impact of AAMC-Member Medical Schools and Teaching Hospitals
AAMC-member institutions have substantial economic impact within the counties and cities where they have operations, representing billions of dollars annually in revenue, job creation, advanced research, new business development, and education of medical professionals.
