AAMC-ORI Responsible Conduct of Research (RCR) Program for Academic Societies
From 2002-2006 the AAMC administered the HHS Office of Research Integrity (ORI) Responsible Conduct of Research Program for Academic Societies in an effort to encourage academic societies to provide leadership to the research community through initiatives designed to promote the responsible conduct of research. The premise of the program was that the components of RCR can best be addressed within the different disciplines and specialties.
During the life of the program, more than $1 million has been dispersed,
with 39 awards made to 33 different academic and scientific societies.
The program has supported the development of guidelines, standards,
policies, and publications (including RCR articles in journals,
newsletters, and on society Web sites), committees, annual conferences,
core competencies, curricula, and other resources related to the
core RCR components. Many of the products of these awards are now
becoming available to the academic community.
This program has now ended and no new awards will be made. For more information on this program, contact Tony Mazzaschi at 202-828-0059 or tmazzaschi@aamc.org.
