The AAMC strives to be a leader in best-practices research and solutions for medial schools and teaching hospitals to improve management and organizational effectiveness.
In September 2007, the AAMC Executive Council adopted Learn, Serve, Lead (PDF), the AAMC's strategic thinking and positioning. One of the nine strategic priorities for the association is to help our member medical schools and teaching hospitals identify, implement, and sustain organizational performance improvement (OPI).
OPI is a series of purposeful activities and initiatives that extend traditional AAMC products and services to institution-level action. OPI is a comprehensive campaign of programs, initiatives, and services that:
- Help medical schools and teaching hospitals improve their organizations and align their mission activities;
- Translate policies and principles into action and implementation at institutions;
- Bridge multiple missions and organizational units within our members' complex settings.
The AAMC has begun to implement four pilot projects that can help medical schools and teaching hospital improve specific aspects of their management and organizational effectiveness.
