...in the spotlight

Harold C. Sox, M.D., professor and chair of Medicine at Dartmouth Medical School, was awarded the Robert J. Glaser Award of the Society of General Internal Medicine.

At the University of Cincinnati College of Medicine: Gregory Rouan, M.D., associate director for Educational Affairs, and Mark Bibler, M.D., professor of Clinical Medicine, were named top primary care physicians in the August 2000 issue of Town & Country.

The September PBS series "On Our Own Terms: Moyers on Dying" featured several Mount Sinai School of Medicine doctors, including Diane Meier, M.D., director of the Lillian and Benjamin Hertzberg Palliative Care Institute, and R. Sean Morrison, M.D., assistant professor of Geriatrics and Adult Development.

Tim A. Ahles, Ph.D., professor of Psychiatry at Dartmouth Medical School, was quoted in the August 2000 issue of Reader's Digest for his studies on the effects of chemotherapy.

The Loyola University of Chicago Stritch School of Medicine reports Mark Chichon, D.O., assistant professor of Surgery, and Larry Reed, M.D., professor of Surgery, appeared on CNN Aug. 25 as part of a special on car crashes and trauma care.

...on the move

Philip C. Bagnell, M.D., has been appointed executive associate dean for Academic and Faculty Affairs at the James H. Quillen College of Medicine at East Tennessee State University.

William Hickey, M.D., has been appointed senior associate dean for Academic Affairs at Dartmouth Medical School.

Donald Nutter, M.D., former executive associate dean and professor of Medicine at Northwestern University Medical School, is the new Robert G. Petersdorf scholar-in-residence in the AAMC's Division of Medical Education.

Marsha R. Torr, Ph.D., was named vice president for Research at Virginia Commonwealth University.

Vincent Verdile, M.D., has been named interim dean and interim executive vice president for Health Affairs at the Albany Medical Center.

James T. Willerson, M.D., has been appointed interim president of the University of Texas Health Science Center at Houston.

At the University of Arkansas: I. Dodd Wilson, M.D., has accepted the position of chancellor for the College of Medicine. John P. Shock, M.D., has been named interim dean of the College of Medicine.
