Fonda Davis Eyler, Ph.D., and Marylou Behnke, M.D., professors of Pediatrics at the University of Florida College of Medicine, were featured May 19 on CBS HealthWatch for their cocaine exposure research.

Thomas Tomsick, M.D., professor and director of Neuroradiology at the University of Cincinnati College of Medicine, was quoted in a April 20 Los Angeles Times story about treating stroke victims.

Craig S. Wong, M.D., a senior fellow in Pediatrics, and Philip A. Tarr, M.D., a professor of Pediatrics at the University of Washington School of Medicine, were featured in a May 25 Associated Press story on antibiotic use in children.

From Dartmouth Medical School: William C. Black, M.D., was featured in a May 8 Associated Press story on cancer screenings. John H. Wasson, M.D., and Harold C. Sox Jr., M.D., were featured in New York Times articles on prostate cancer.

...in the spotlight
Michael Bevan, Ph.D., professor of Immunology at the University of Washington School of Medicine, has received the annual Excellence in Mentoring Award from the American Association of Immunologists.

D. Melessa Phillips, M.D., professor and chair of Family Medicine at the University of Mississippi Medical Center, received the 1999 Thomas W. Johnson Award from the American Academy of Family Physicians.

Robert Stan Williams, M.D., chief of Reproductive Endocrinology and Infertility at the University of Florida College of Medicine, was recently selected 1999's Eminent Scientist of the Year by the Asia-Pacific Chapter of the International Research Promotion Council.

...on the move

J. Sumner Bell III, M.D., professor of Clinical Internal Medicine, has been named president of Eastern Virginia Medical School.

From the UCSF School of Medicine: Neal H. Cohen, M.D., has been named vice dean for Academic Affairs. Michael V. Drake, M.D., has been named vice president for Health Affairs.
