A medical student's 'first patient':

"We've been together many long nights, and it has always been an adventure. Taking the cadaver away from medical students would be like taking away a rite of passage," says this student photographer

This is one of the Runners-Up in the 2002-2003 AAMC Reporter photography contest, which had the theme "A Day in the Life of a Medical Student."
