Medical School Applicant Numbers Continue to Decline

AAMC President Cohen to Release New Applicant Data


WHAT: AAMC President Jordan J. Cohen, M.D., will announce the newest data on applicants and matriculants to U.S. medical schools at a luncheon for the media. As in the past three years, medical schools are once again experiencing an overall decline in the number of applicants. Dr. Cohen will also discuss the legislative and regulatory issues affecting medical schools and teaching hospitals (BBA, NIH, privacy, etc.), and release a new AAMC report describing how medical schools and teaching hospitals are managing change in the health care marketplace.
