OSR Student Affairs Update

The Student Affairs Committee has completed its analysis and review of the data from the AAMC-OSR Mental Health Services Survey administered in May 2009. We will present the findings during a joint plenary with the GSA at the AAMC Annual Meeting in Boston in November 2009.

We have now turned our focus to the issue of medical student tuition and indebtedness. The committee is currently developing a list of questions for OSR reps to ask the administration at their home institutions in order to establish how tuition is set, what input students have on the process, and what tuition covers at different medical schools. We hope the project will promote transparency and help elucidate areas where the OSR might target future efforts to slow the rise of indebtedness among medical students.
