OSR Student Affairs Update

Profiles in Career Advising Document (PCAD)
After a productive conference call that generated a lot of great ideas,
the Student Affairs Committee has decided on the format of the PCAD. We
have also generated a list of questions to ask the Dean of Student Affairs
at each school we profile as well as questions for the OSR representatives
at the schools to get student input. The Student Affairs Committee will
profile ten schools to outline the approaches that have proven effective
in assisting students with their specialty choice and residency placement.
The PCAD will be distributed by the OSR Administrative Board to OSR representatives
as a resource for improving career advising at those institutions where
there are concerns about the school's career advising program.
Delegate Transition Binders
The election of new OSR regional delegates has provided us with the second
year of implementation for the Delegate Transition Binders. New delegates
were asked to provide feedback on the usefulness of the binders. The delegates
unanimously agreed that the Project Logs are the most helpful documents
in the binders. However, there are still several ways to improve the binders
to make them even more helpful. The Student Affairs Committee will continue
to refine the layout and the contents of the binders to ensure the smooth
transition of newly elected delegates.
