OSR Northeast Regional Update

September 2009

Greetings everyone! As the 2009 Annual Meeting approaches, we are eagerly anticipating the lively dialogue that is sure to be generated by this year's theme "Stewardship and Service." We expect to continue many conversations from our spring regional meeting and also broach new hot topics in medical education.

Your newly elected regional delegates have been hard at work! David Halpin reports that the Communications committee is preparing a well timed newsletter that will recap the highlights of our regional meeting that was held this spring in Philadelphia. Sherzana Sunderji informs us that the Community & Diversity team is creating an interactive map of OSR participating schools and also preparing for the always successful career fair. Keisha French and other members of the Student Affairs committee have been working on a survey on Medical Education Cost and Student Debt. Matt Reilley relays that Legislative Affairs is working on keeping OSR members knowledgeable about healthcare reform by sending out periodic updates on legislation. Mitul Kanzaria and the rest of the Medical Education committee are diligently working on TIME Project and the Innovative Programming Showcase, which will be featured at the upcoming meeting. Lastly, as Regional Chair-Elect, Ari Avellino has been involved in the planning for the 2010 National Spring Regional Meeting and is preparing for the transition in her role as Chair of the Northeast region.

Our upcoming Annual Meeting is also a time when national delegates are elected and I encourage everyone to consider running for office. Serving on the Administrative Board is a great way to get involved with the OSR and it provides a unique opportunity to keep abreast of the pressing issues in medical education. For more information, contact any of the current Ad Board members.

I am excited about the 2009 Annual Meeting, and look forward to seeing you all November 6-8 in Boston! If you have any questions, feel free to contact me. Have a great week!
