National Board of Medical Examiners (NBME) Advisory Committee for Medcial School Programs - OSR Liaison Update

There are many things that are going on at the NBME. During our last meeting we discussed the comprehensive review of the USMLE, diversity on NBME committees, disability curricula and testing, Step 2CS, various research projects, new medical school services, and updates regarding the NBME Self-Assessment Services.

Importantly, with regard to the Step 2CS, individual performance profiles will now be provided to all Step 2CS examinees (NBME MSAC Meeting minutes — PDF, 6 pages). This is a fantastic improvement that will provide valuable feedback to students who take this exam.

Also, expanded feedback on the NBME Self-Assessment Services is now an option for purchase on the NBME web site. The new performance profile will include a link to the questions answered incorrectly, the average time per question in seconds and the percent marked. In addition, students will be able to view the incorrect answers they selected.
