OSR Medical Education Update
September 2008
Conference calls were held on, July 15th, August 4th and August 25th,
2008. Our next conference call is scheduled for September 15th, 2008.
TIME Update:
- The regional delegates have
- Solicited ideas for write-ups from OSR representatives in their
respective regions
- Selected an innovation in medical education for their own TIME
write-up and are in the process of completing the document (some
of which have already been completed).
- Three to six OSR representatives have expressed interest in completing
a write-up for the TIME project. The regional delegates are working
with them to complete the documents.
- Our committee recognized the overlap between the existing TIME project
and the innovative programs presented at the Annual Meeting Poster Session.
We hope to contact these individuals who will be making a poster and
ask if they would also like to contribute to the TIME project.
Professionalism Taught in US Medical Schools:
- We have sent an email over the OSR listserve requesting that students
contact our committee if their school has developed and implemented
a successful way of teaching professionalism in schools.
- We posted the same announcement on Blackboard.
- By Sept 15th (our next conference call) we will have selected the
5-10 programs that we will profile for the document that will be distributed
at the Professionalism breakout session at the Annual Meeting.
- After the programs are selected we will work with the course directors
to write a brief, yet comprehensive summary of the professionalism teaching
tools being used.
