Preparing for H1N1
To help our member medical schools better prepare for the current
influenza season, a memo was sent to the student affairs deans and
the Group on Student Affairs which consolidates the latest information
and guidance on the H1N1 virus from the Centers for Disease Control
and Prevention (CDC). Because individuals younger than 25 (the age
of many medical students) are more susceptible to the virus and
students are exposed to classroom and clinical environments, the
AAMC identified the information that was most relevant for medical
schools. The memo also includes questions medical school leaders
can ask to help them assess their current policies and resources.
As this year's flu season progresses, the association will continue
to monitor CDC information, share important updates with medical
schools, and evaluate our member services and programs in light
of different scenarios.
