Criminal Background Checks
The COA has posted on the GSA private
site its Effective Practices document to assist schools with the
implementation of criminal background checks on accepted applicants.
This document is available to all institutional admissions representatives
and contains three sections. Section I addresses background information
and AAMC recommendations for schools' consideration in the area
of criminal background checks. Section II addresses "best practices."
Section III provides guidance for reviewing and interpreting criminal
background history information.
Handbook for Student Admissions
Officers
The Handbook for Admissions Officers compiles key information, examples
of best office practices, and general wisdom based on decades of
experience. The members of the 2002-2003 GSA National Committee
on Admissions, along with other experienced admissions office personnel,
created this document as a resource guide for both the new and the
experienced admissions officer.
