About Data Collection and Analysis Committee
In the fall of 2005, the MD-PhD Section of the GREAT Group established
a Data Collection and Analysis Committee to provide leadership on formulating
research questions and gathering data to support the mission of the section.
The Data Collection and Analysis Committee is charged with:
-
Developing an inventory of existing data related to MD-PhD program
applicants, matriculates, and graduates; as well as MD-PhD programs
and their faculty. Such an inventory should include data from AAMC,
NIH, and other sources.
-
Suggesting how existing data gathering efforts can be enhanced and
made consistent in order to facilitate longitudinal analyses.
-
Recommending new data gathering efforts in support of the Section
and the AAMC's program, services, and advocacy agenda.
-
Recommending uniform institutional data gathering instruments that
will allow for national data standardization and presentation.
-
Consulting with NIH on how to best meet their programmatic data
needs.
-
Recommending to the Section Executive Committee appropriate methods
and vehicles for disseminating related data and analyses in order
to assist MD-PhD programs in their program management, recruitment,
and advising functions.
