University of Iowa College of Medicine
Lee Carmen
Lee Carmen is the Associate Vice President for Medical Affairs/Information
Technology and the Chief Information Officer for the University of Iowa
Hospitals and Clinics and the Carver College of Medicine, located in Iowa
City, Iowa. In addition, he is an adjunct faculty member in the University
Of Iowa School Of Public Health. Mr. Carmen has been managing information
technology in academic medical centers for over 15 years. Prior to that,
Mr. Carmen was involved in developing and supporting computer systems
in cardiovascular research. Mr. Carmen has degrees in microbiology, mathematics,
and electrical and computer engineering.
Michael Kienzle
Michael G. Kienzle, M.D., is professor of medicine, special assistant
to the dean, University of Iowa Carver College of Medicine and director,
Office of Economic and Business Development. His current responsibilities
include technology transfer, business development, technology planning
and strategy, continuing medical education and provider credentialing.
Dr. Kienzle received his medical degree from the University of Iowa and
residency and fellowship training at the University of Pennsylvania in
Philadelphia, in internal medicine, cardiology, and cardiac electrophysiology.
Since his arrival at the University of Iowa in 1984, he has held a number
of positions, including director of cardiac electrophysiology, assistant
director for clinical programs, division of cardiovascular Diseases, associate
dean for clinical affairs and biomedical communications and associate
director (chief technology officer), University of Iowa Hospitals and
Clinics.
