DukeMed Magazine
The flagship publication of Duke Medicine, DukeMed magazine works to promote Duke's clinical programs and services and strengthen readers' relationships with the institution. The publication seeks to enhance Duke's image as a leader in health practice and research and strives to be a helpful tool for the institution and a welcome resource for its readers.
Goals
- Create a single magazine that would appeal to clinicians and
nonclinician donors, people with and without ties to Duke, and
those without.
- Build relationships with community physicians whose referrals are important to the institution's success.
Results
- A telephone and mail survey poll revealed that 86 percent of readers say content is helpful.
- Eight of 10 survey respondents replied that DukeMed has positively influenced their opinion of Duke (of the remainder, 10 percent were neutral, and another 10 percent said they "already had a high opinion of Duke!").
- At least a fourth of readers have contacted Duke as a result of reading the magazine (to refer a patient, to enroll in a CME course, or to request more information on a service).
