Northwestern University Feinberg School of Medicine
"Anatomy of Northwestern University's
Feinberg School of Medicine"
Anatomy of Northwestern University's Feinberg School of Medicine is the
fourth annual report produced by the Office of Publications and
Public Relations for the Dean's Office. The school's leadership began
this project in 2000 as a means of reporting to key constituents on
how well the institution is performing. With a press run of 8,500,
Anatomy was distributed to the entire faculty (3,800) University and
Medical Center leaders, trustees, alumni leaders, Chicago area alumni,
other medical school deans, and donors.
Goals
- Creating a unique, eye-catching annual report each year to engage
the target audience.
- Design and photography must be lively and concise to hold
readers’ attention.
Results
- Pivot Design, a Chicago graphic design firm familiar with the
Feinberg School of Medicine, created the report as an anatomy text
complete with plastic overlay pages, captions labeled as Figure 1, 2,
3, and index, etc.
- Writing staff introduced each section with features on several types
of students to provide the important human interest angle.
- Drew more enthusiasm and support from those involved with
its production.
- The 30 percent survey response rate gave high marks to Anatomy.
