Launch of Redesigned Corporate Web Site

With the rise of Internet use among students, faculty and the general public, universities are under increasing pressure to construct and maintain easy-to-navigate and understandable Web sites. The Medical College of Wisconsin redesigned and launched its new Web site on June 30, 2003, bringing a uniform design and theme to the school's Internet face.

Goals

  • To construct a Web site with a cohesive theme
  • Develop a standard tool that would make it easier for employees to create Web pages
  • Create privacy and copyright policies, image consent forms and production standards

Results

  • Within six months (July - December 2003), Web traffic increased by an additional 408,000 page views compared to the same time period during 2002.
  • Unique visits rose by nearly 17,000 hits, and views of news releases linked to the homepage grew from 24,728 to 34,982.
  • The school was able to measure Web traffic on specific pages for the first time.
