Building the UTMB Brand

After a communications audit and employee survey, University of Texas Medical Branch leaders determined that employees needed a unified way of thinking about themselves. It was also determined that the university needed a more cohesive image. The introduction to a new logo and theme line in May 2001 has helped UTMB to accomplish both goals.

Goals:

  • Create a uniformed way of thinking for UTMB employees
  • Bring the overwhelming individual department and program logos into a one cohesive look
  • Build a brand that communicates the mission and vision of UTMB

Results:

  • The brand is in wide use after only one year after launch
  • Employees have accepted new logo and theme
  • Over 500 promotional items now carry the brand, compared to just 120 a year ago
