"Buffalo Physician Magazine"
With a distribution of over 11,300, the Buffalo Physician
magazine is a quarterly publication which informs alumni,
students, residents, faculty and political leaders about the
issues facing the University of Buffalo School of Medicine
and Biomedical Sciences. Over the past year, the magazine
has undergone a redesign in order to encourage more participation
of the diverse constituents as well as convey a better sense
of the concerns facing the University.
Goals
- Engage a broader spectrum of readers
- Garner more contributions from younger alumni and faculty,
as well as students and residents
- Motivate readers to participate in reinvigorating the
content of the magazine with their stories and story ideas
- Give a clear sense of the issues that the University of
Buffalo faces, including supplementing funding from dwindling
financial support from the state
Results
- There has been an increase in student, resident, alumni
and faculty involvement
- Inclusion of a wider ethnic and cultural perspective
representative of the student body
- More sophisticated, multidisciplinary approach to the
coverage of research, both clinical and basis science based
