"Jail Time"

Writer Bruce Morgan investigates the health care given to prisoners and the innovative program started by Baystate Medical Center. Baystate, a principal affiliate of the Tufts University School of Medicine, has teamed with the Hampden County Correctional Center to give men and women in custody the care the need.

Goal

Present the national problem of the deficiencies in prisoner health care to a broad spectrum of readers, while investigating new advances by Tufts University affiliates to counteract the situation.

Results

The ambitious collaboration program, based on a public health model, has earned impressive results while offering a template to other prison and jail across the nation.
