Group on Educational Affairs (GEA)
Interdisciplinary Women's Health Care Education Special Interest Group (SIG)

Purpose

The purpose of the Interdisciplinary Women's Health Care Education (IWHCE) SIG is to convene a group of physicians and educators whose common interest is interdisciplinary women's health care education, as well as to advocate interdisciplinary activities for women's health education in medical schools and teaching institutions throughout the country and enhance the commitment to education in women's health care.

Forum

The Interdisciplinary Women's Health Care Education Special Interest Group (SIG) will provide a forum for medical educators across all disciplines to exchange ideas concerning women's health care education. The following areas will be addressed by the SIG.

  • Collect and exam current women's health curricula published by the government, medical schools, and women's health organizations to assess sources available to educators;
  • Promote women's health issues that are not currently being addressed in medical school curricula;
  • Through the auspices of undergraduate medical organizations represented by the Alliance for Clinical Education (ACE), survey interdisciplinary medical educators on how women's health is being integrated within the undergraduate medical curricula;
  • Collaborate with other Group on Educational Affairs SIGs, such as Faculty Development, to promote women's health faculty development activities.

If you would like information regarding the SIG please contact Cynthia Woodard, cawoodard@aamc.org, Staff Associate, Group on Educational Affairs, Association of American Medical Colleges.
