More About MESA

Medical Education Scholarship Awards (MESA) (PDF, 22 pages)

MESA is a comprehensive professional development program established in 2003 by the SGEA and supported by its member institutions.

The goal of the MESA is to encourage, recognize, and reward promising teaching scholars, achievements in educational scholarship, and distinguished careers in medical education scholarship within the active membership of the SGEA.

Promising Medical Educator Award: First-time SGEA presenters who are primary/first authors are eligible for this annual award. Oral abstracts, workshops, and small group discussions qualify to be considered for this award. Awardees receive a letter recognizing this achievement, a framed certificate, and paid conference registration fee for the 2009 SGEA spring meeting in New Orleans.

MESA Poster Awards: 2008 is the first year SGEA has reviewed poster presentations for MESA awards at the annual conference. These awards were designed to recognize and encourage poster presenters who are contributing to the field through scholarship. Awardees receive a letter and a framed certificate recognizing this achievement during the 2009 SGEA spring meeting in New Orleans.
