What Do You Think?

Thank You For Asking. . .

We received and appreciate the feedback and kind thoughts you shared with us about our September prototype of Faculty Vitae. The following addresses many of your comments and suggestions.

Comment: Please encourage schools and societies offering faculty development programs to provide you contact information and a description of program offerings.

Reply: The September 2004 issue of Faculty Vitae included a list of National Leadership Development Programs. We are collecting information about faculty development programs from schools and societies with a goal to provide a more comprehensive directory of these opportunities to you. We welcome the identification of these programs; contact us to submit your program or your society's program to our list. Please include a brief description as well as contact information.

Comment: Please highlight mid-level faculty to identify strategies that they found helpful in achieving their goals.

Reply: Spotlight features faculty along the continuum of faculty roles and appointments. Please contact us to nominate a faculty member, program, or initiative to be featured in a future issue.

Comment: Please include more information on women's leadership issues, such as conflict resolution, negotiation, and managing change.

Reply: The theme for this issue of Faculty Vitae is Diversity and Equity. Our leadership lesson addresses basics of negotiation. In addition, we welcome women associate professors to apply to attend the upcoming faculty development meeting, our Mid-Career Women Faculty Development Program, which addresses topics such as conflict, negotiation, and leadership from the perspective of women faculty. We will begin receiving applications for this program in February. The AAMC also offers other programs that address a variety of these topics.

Comment: Please clarify the mechanism by which faculty may provide feedback about Faculty Vitae.

Reply: As always, we welcome your feedback on any aspect of Faculty Vitae. Click here to provide feedback or click on What Do You Think?, the bottom link in the menu bar on the left side of each page, to let us know how we may serve you better.
