Conference "Celebrating
Faculty Vitality and Diversity"August 1-4, 2008 - Sheraton Station
Square Hotel - Pittsburgh, Pa. Call for Sessions and Posters BackgroundThe
AAMC Faculty Affairs Program Planning Committee is seeking to identify and highlight
promising practices in faculty affairs and programs that support vitality and
diversity at academic medical institutions through poster presentations and sessions
at the AAMC Faculty Affairs Professional Development Conference, August 1-4, Pittsburgh,
Pa. Travel expenses and meeting registration are the responsibility of
the authors.The theme for this year's conference is a focus on faculty
vitality and diversity. In this context, diversity includes the broad scope of
ethnic, gender, international, socioeconomic, generational and perhaps even other
issues. We are looking for promising practices in these areas. The Committee has
a particular interest in stimulating conversations around innovative ideas, programs,
activities, and research in the following categories: - Engaging faculty
in recruitment and retention to promote diversity
- Morale/vitality/climate
- Wellness:
personal and professional
- Faculty Satisfaction
- Pathways to career
success
- Professionalism
- Values-based policies (i.e., compensation/gender
equity)
- Talent management
Session Proposal GuidelinesProposals
must not exceed 500 words and must address the following items:
- Session title
- List of presenters and their affiliations
- Describe
audience engagement: small group discussion, active participation, formal presentations,
etc
- Statement of the purpose, problem or opportunity
- Discussion
of the approach
- Session objectives
- Methods, including but not
limited to guidelines for program development, implementation and measurement
of promising practices

include the following: - Title, Authors, Institution
- Purpose
of program / study / research
- How to develop the program of interest
- How
to measure if it is a promising practice
- How to go about implementation
- Highlight
barriers and opportunities
- Summary of results
- Conclusion(s)

Abstract Submission Form (PDF, 1 page) SelectionMembers
of the Faculty Affairs Program Planning Committee will review, judge and select
poster abstracts and sessions by using the following criteria: - Clarity
of purpose
- Interpretation of results
- Originality of approach or
question
- Clarity of writing
- Strength or relevance of approach
/ design and implementation
Complete the submission form(s) and fax
by May 1, 2008, to Jennifer Stevens at 202-828-1125. For more information

Authors
will receive e-mail notification of receipt within a week of submission. Final
notification of acceptance for session proposals and for abstracts for presentation
at the poster session will be made by mid-June 2008. Travel expenses and meeting
registration are the responsibility of the authors. |
