GEA FAME Special Session
Fundamentals of Assessment in Medical Education (FAME)
This introductory assessment course is offered by the National Board
of Medical Examiners (NBME) and the Foundation for Advancement of International
Medical Education and Research (FAIMER), in collaboration with the GEA.
The course is led by internationally recognized faculty in the field of
measurement and assessment and will be conducted November 7 - 11 (Saturday
through Wednesday, excluding Monday). FAME is designed for those with
responsibility for a specific area of assessment, for example, assessing
clinical skills. The key subjects covered are the assessment of skills
and the assessment of workplace performance.
Participants will be asked to select one of these two areas of interest
and will be assigned to that working group during the course. The course
is one-and-a-half days of plenary and small group sessions on test design,
test development, standard setting, and scoring, and attendance at AAMC
program events most relevant to the participants' needs.
The course fee is $700 and all participants must be registered for the
AAMC Annual Meeting.
