CMO Group Session:
"Implementing the Path from Variations to Evidence-Based Practice"
Comparative effectiveness research is a prominent strategy
for fostering improvements in both quality and efficiency of clinical
care. Eliminating clinically unwarranted variations in care processes
is a key goal of comparative effectiveness, one that is likely to
continue to gain momentum among providers, insurers and policy makers.
CMOs and other clinical leaders are often tasked with implementing
programs that will reduce variations, improve quality and decrease
costs, but effective strategies for such programs are not always
apparent. This session will review the current status of comparative
effectiveness initiatives and will provide proven examples of effective
evidence-based strategies that reduce variations and enhance outcomes.
