MedEdPORTAL Advocacy Training Workshop
Note: Open Workshop
Description: In 2005 the Association of American
Medical Colleges developed and launched MedEdPORTAL as a free publishing
venue and dissemination portal to support educators and learners
as they create and use on-line teaching materials, assessment tools,
and faculty development resources around the world. The voice of
MedEdPORTAL resides with its member institutions, affiliations,
and partner organizations. MedEdPORTAL seeks to make this voice
heard by training individuals, or Advocates, as a channel for the
promotion of this unique service program. Advocates will play an
important role in distributing training information, acting as on-site
liaisons, and recruiting submissions and peer reviewers to MedEdPORTAL.

MedEdPORTAL Peer Reviewer Training Workshop
Note: Open Workshop
Description: Impartial assessment is an essential
component of scholarly review. Peer review is the attentive, unbiased
assessment of materials submitted to publication outlets by reviewers
and is the very foundation of academic publication. MedEdPORTAL
maintains a pool of 650+ nominated expert reviewers that serve as
important quality gatekeepers to the system. To evaluate assigned
submissions, reviewers must, in part, scrutinize the quality and
quantity of information contained in both the provided submission
form and in the resource itself. Due to the tremendous growth and
continued expansion of MedEdPORTAL, this workshop will serve as
a foundation for the recruitment and training of reviewers.

MedEdPORTAL Author Training Workshop
Note: Open Workshop
Description: MedEdPORTAL was designed to serve as a prestigious
publishing venue through which faculty may disseminate their educational
works. An educational resource successfully peer-reviewed and published
through MedEdPORTAL is considered a publication and is comparable
to a peer-reviewed research paper published through a reputable
print-based journal. Authors who publish through MedEdPORTAL benefit
from the AAMC's authority and credibility, and have access to an
audience drawn from its broad membership. Publications in MedEdPORTAL
should be considered compelling scholarly contributions suitable
for use to support promotion and tenure decisions. This workshop
aims to provide educators the tools necessary to prepare materials
in preparation to submitting to MedEdPORTAL.
