AAMC Project Medical Education WorkshopHands-on Session to Assist
You in Planning Your Project Medical Education (PME) program
October 27,
2006, 8a - 1:30p
Seattle Convention Center, Room 310 Registration
Fee: $175 (includes planning manual, breakfast and lunch)
AAMC's Project Medical Education (PME) works
with AAMC-member institutions to radically advance policymakers' understanding
of medical education. The PME model program is an excellent way for you to ensure
that your key audiences realize the significant contributions made by academic
medicine and to garner their support for medical education. The PME model
is an interactive program where your attendees assume the roles of medical students,
residents, and faculty physicians. To date, more than 650 policymakers have attended
a PME program hosted by 60 institutions. The PME training manual and collateral
materials are designed to minimize the amount of planning that you will need to
do when hosting policymakers at your own campus or hospital. To help you
develop your PME program, organize a planning team at your institution and attend
one of the workshops where you and your team members will: - Find out
more about the advantages of hosting a PME program at your institution;
- Gain
step-by-step planning instructions for organizing your PME event;
- Determine
the key messages that you want to send to legislators and influential policymakers; and,
- Hear about best practices, lessons learned, and ways to make sure your program
is a success.
Who should attend?
This workshop
is designed for faculty and staff who are responsible for education affairs, public
relations, institutional advancement, government relations or any other discipline
that may be involved in educating policymakers and influential stakeholders. If
you are considering hosting a PME program at your institution within the next
year, the workshop will prove to be extremely valuable. For further information
about Project Medical Education, please contact: Chris Tucker, 202-828-0989, ctucker@aamc.org
