CAS/GRAND Plenary Session The recent Clinical and Translational Science Award competition led many schools and hospitals to consider how they can best be structured to facilitate research in the future. Some institutions have announced that they will restructure, even if they are unsuccessful in the NIH competition. This session will discuss the issues considered by several schools in such research planning; how it will affect other key missions, including medical and graduate education; the lessons they have learned from the planning process; and, the barriers and opportunities presented by such efforts. Moderator: Speakers: Sherine E. Gabriel, MD, Chair, Department of Health Sciences Research, Mayo Medical School Eric S.
