The
2008 AAMC/SACME Harrison Survey
The survey of academic continuing medical education
(CME) in the United States and Canada was developed
as a collaborative partnership between the AAMC and
SACME. Findings of interest include: an over 80% response
rate; sizable efforts generating hundreds of courses,
conferences, regularly scheduled conferences or rounds;
and an increased, scholarly attention to the principles
of effective continuing education and adult learning.
IOM
Releases Report on Conflict of Interest
The report tackles conflicts of interest from biomedical
research to clinical care and from the training of new
doctors to the continuing education of physicians. It
recommends several actions to improve disclosure of
financial ties, limit company payments and gifts, and
remove industry influence from medical education and
the development of practice guidelines.
