Accreditation Council for Continuing Medical Education (ACCME)
The ACCME's Mission is the identification, development, and promotion of standards for quality continuing medical education (CME) utilized by physicians in their maintenance of competence and incorporation of new knowledge to improve quality medical care for patients and their communities.

Accreditation Council for Graduate Medical Education (ACGME)
The Accreditation Council for Graduate Medical Education (ACGME) is responsible for the Accreditation of post-MD medical training programs within the United States.

Alliance for CME
Membership organization that provides professional development opportunities for CME professionals, advocates for CME and the profession, and strives to improve health care outcomes.

Alliance of Independent Academic Medical Centers (AIAMC)
The Alliance of Independent Academic Medical Centers (AIAMC) is a national membership organization whose members are major academic medical centers and health systems committed to quality patient care, medical education and research.

Ambulatory Care Quality Alliance (AQA)
AQA's mission and goals focus on key areas that can help identify quality gaps, control skyrocketing cost trends, reduce confusion over redundant measures and alleviate administrative burdens in the marketplace.

American Academy of Family Physicians (AAFP)
Mission is to preserve and promote the science and art of family medicine and to ensure high-quality, cost-effective health care for patients of all ages.

American Association for Adult and Continuing Education (AAACE)
Provides leadership for the field of adult and continuing education by expanding opportunities for adult growth and development; unifying adult educators; fostering the development and dissemination of theory, research, information, and best practices; promoting identity and standards for the profession; and advocating relevant public policy and social change initiatives. Publishes periodicals in adult education and learning: Adult Learning and the Adult Education Quarterly.

American Board of Medical Specialties (ABMS)
The American Board of Medical Specialties (ABMS), a not-for-profit organization, assists 24 approved medical specialty boards in the development and use of standards in the ongoing evaluation and certification of physicians.

American College of Physicians (ACP/ASIM)
The nation's largest medical specialty society. Its mission is to enhance the quality and effectiveness of health care by fostering excellence and professionalism in the practice of medicine. Publication: Annals of Internal Medicine

American Educational Research Association (AERA)
A national research society that strives to advance knowledge about education, to encourage scholarly inquiry related to education, and to promote the use of research to improve education and serve the public good. Publications: Educational Researcher; American Educational Research Journal

American Health Quality Association (AHQA)
Represents Quality Improvement Organizations (QIOs) and professionals working to improve the quality of health care in communities across America. QIOs share information about best practices with physicians, hospitals, nursing homes, home health agencies, and others.

Association for the Behavioral Sciences and Medical Education (ABSAME)
Medical school faculty representing sociology, psychology, anthropology, pediatrics, internal medicine, family medicine, preventive medicine, and psychiatry formed ABSAME as an interdisciplinary professional society dedicated to strengthening behavioral science teaching in medical schools, residency programs, and in continuing medical education.

The Association for Health Professional Education (ANZAME)
An organisation for all those involved in medical and health professional education - educators and students. Publication: Focus on Health Professional Education

Association for Hospital Medical Education (AHME)
The Association for Hospital Medical Education (AHME), founded in 1956, is a national, non-profit professional organization involved in the continuum of hospital-based medical education: undergraduate, graduate, and continuing medical education.

Association for Medical Education in Europe (AMEE)
AMEE organises an annual conference and delivers courses on teaching, assessment and research skills for teachers in medicine and the healthcare professions. AMEE produces the journal Medical Teacher, a series of education guides, occasional papers and Best Evidence Medical Education guides and the online information resource MedEdCentral.

Association for Surgical Education (ASE)
The mission of the Association for Surgical Education is to promote, recognize, and reward excellence, innovation and scholarship in surgical education.

Association for the Study of Medical Education (ASME)
The Association seeks to improve the quality of medical education by bringing together individuals and organizations with interests and responsibilities in medical and healthcare education. Publication: Medical Education

American College of Medical Quality (ACMQ)
Mission is to provide leadership and education in healthcare quality management

American Medical Association (AMA)
Promotes the art and science of medicine and the betterment of public health. Publishes JAMA and CME/CPPD Report

American Medical Informatics Association (AMIA)
AMIA advances the informatics professions relating to health and disease. To this end it advances the use of health information technology in clinical care, personal health management, public health/population, and research with the ultimate objective of improving health. Publication: JAMIA Online

Association of American Medical Colleges (AAMC)
The AAMC and the medical schools, teaching hospitals, academic and professional societies, faculty, residents, and students we represent are committed to improving the nation's health through medical education, research, and high-quality patient care. Association of Faculties of Medicine of Canada (AFMC)
AFMC's Mission is to ensure the health of Canadians by promoting and supporting excellence in health education and research

The American Society for Quality is the world's leading authority on quality.

British Medical Association (BMA)
The British Medical Association is the doctors' professional organization established to look after the professional and personal needs of our members. Publication: BMJ: British Medical Journal

Canadian Association for Continuing Health Education (CACHE)
The Canadian Association for Continuing Health Education was born out of a need to share, promote and support Canadian continuing health education (CHE) initiatives.

Canadian Association of Medical Education/L'Association canadienne pour l'éducation médicale (CAME/ACEM)
Our goal is to promote excellence and scholarship in all aspects of medical education by advocating for medical education and medical educators, by supporting faculty and educational development, and by encouraging research in medical education through networking and scientific activities.

Canadian Network for Innovation in Education (CNIE)

College of Family Physicians of Canada/Le collège des médecins de famille du Canada (CFPC)
The College strives to improve the health of Canadians by promoting high standards of medical education and care in family practice, by contributing to public understanding of healthful living, by supporting ready access to family physician services, and by encouraging research and disseminating knowledge about family medicine. Canadian Medical Association/Association médicale canadienne (CMA)
To serve and unite the physicians of Canada and be the national advocate, in partnership with the people of Canada, for the highest standards of health and health care. Publication: CMAJ

Council of Medical Specialty Societies (CMSS)
The mission of the Council of Medical Specialty Societies is to improve the quality of medical care by fostering professionalism and physician competence.

Foundation for Medical Practice Education (FMPE)
Our mission is to provide practicing physicians with the means to maintain and enhance their professional knowledge and competence and to integrate that knowledge into their practices through the development, dissemination and evaluation of educational approaches and materials that are learner-centred and practice based, using evidence-based educational principles.

Global Alliance for Medical Education (GAME)
A not for profit organization dedicated to the advancement of innovation in medical education throughout the world.

A not-for-profit organization leading the improvement of health care throughout the world.

The Joint Commission
The Joint Commission on Accreditation of Healthcare Organizations (JCAHO) is an independent, not-for-profit organization that accredits and certifies more than 15,000 health care organizations and programs in the United States.

National Board of Medical Examiners (NBME)
The NBME is an independent, not-for-profit organization that provides high-quality examinations for the health professions.

National Committee for Quality Assurance (NCQA)

National Institute for Quality Improvement and Education (NIQIE)
Founded in 2007 to support the integration of quality improvement and continuing education for health professionals with the ultimate goal of improving patient care.

National Quality Forum (NQF)
The NQF is a not-for-profit membership organization created to develop and implement a national strategy for health care quality measurement and reporting.

The Coalition for Physician Enhancement (CPE)
The CPE is a consortium of professionals with expertise in quality assurance, medical education, and the assessment, licensing, and accreditation of referred physicians seeking higher levels of performance in patient care.

Research in Medical Education (RIME)
The mission of the AAMC's Group on Educational Affairs (GEA) Section for Research in Medical Education (RIME) is to enhance the quality of research in medical education and to promote its application to educational practice.

Royal College of Physicians and Surgeons of Canada/Le Collège royale des médecins et chirurgiens du Canada (RCPSC)
The RCPSC is a national, nonprofit organization established in 1929 by a special Act of Parliament to oversee the medical education of specialists in Canada.

Society for Academic Continuing Medical Education (SACME)
The mission of the Society for Academic Continuing Medical Education is to promote the research, scholarship, evaluation and development of CME/CPD (continuing medical education/continuing professional development) that helps to enhance the performance of physicians and other healthcare professionals practicing in the United States, Canada, and elsewhere for purposes of improving individual and population health. Wonca represents and acts as an advocate for its constituent members at an international level where it interacts with world bodies such as the World Health Organization.
