At the close of the 2007 AAMC annual meeting, Cynthia E. Boyd, M.D., M.B.A., F.A.C.P., associate vice-president, chief compliance officer, and director of medical staff operations at Rush University Medical Center, and assistant professor of medicine at Rush Medical College, became chair of the GSA-MAS. Dr. Boyd will serve as chair for a two-year term on the GSA-MAS Coordinating Committee. At the GSA-MAS business meeting on November 4, 2007, Maria Soto-Greene, M.D., vice dean and professor at the University of Medicine and Dentistry of New Jersey-New Jersey Medical School was elected chair-elect of the GSA-MAS. Dr. Soto-Greene will serve a two-year term in this office with automatic assumption to the chair of the GSA-MAS Coordinating Committee. Congratulations to Dr. Boyd and Dr. Soto-Greene! VSAS Pilot Gets Go-Ahead On January 4, the VSAS Advisory Committee reviewed plans to launch the new Visiting Student Application Service (VSAS) and gave the go-ahead for the pilot year to commence. As a result, the VSAS will open for school users on March 4 and student users on March 25 (after Match Week). Training for both home and host school users will take place throughout February and March. For more information, see the VSAS Web site. |
