Matriculating Student Questionnaire (MSQ)
The Matriculating Student Questionnaire (MSQ) is administered each
year by the Association of American Medical Colleges (AAMC) to all
first year medical students.
The Web-based questionnaire asks first year medical students to
share their thoughts on a variety of topics, such as:
- Premed experience
- Opinions about the medical school application process
- Reasons for choosing medical school
- Future career goals
Student responses to the MSQ are analyzed and then reported, in
aggregrate, to each participating medical school. This feedback
helps medical schools fine-tune their educational programs to fit
the needs of their students. In 2003, nearly 75 percent of all new
medical students completed the MSQ.
