AAMC Survey of Housestaff Stipends, Benefits, and Funding
Below are the final results from the current AAMC Survey of Housestaff
Stipends, Benefits, and Funding, in addition to selected results
from previous AAMC Housestaff Surveys:
Background
The AAMC Survey of Housestaff Stipends, Benefits, and Funding (Formerly the Council of Teaching Hospitals and Health Systems Survey of Housestaff Stipends, Benefits, and Funding) has been fielded annually since 1968.
Hospitals are instructed to complete the survey only if they cut the checks for resident stipends. In cases where the medical school cuts the check, hospitals forward the survey to the medical school and the school completes the survey. The data are available to all AAMC constituents and others with an interest in graduate medical education issues.
The data collection and dissemination process used for the AAMC
Survey of Housestaff Stipends, Benefits, and Funding complies with
the Antitrust Guidelines promulgated by the U.S. Department of Justice
and the Federal Trade Commission. Individual institutions are not
identified and summary statistics are generated only when five (5)
or more institutions in a subgroup have responded to the survey.
