Since 1999, the AAMC has been building a national benchmarking database of fundraising programs at medical schools and teaching hospitals. This database is a product of the data submitted each year by AAMC member institutions.

The survey and its resulting database are designed to:

• assist medical school deans and teaching hospital CEOs in assessing the effectiveness of their institutional fundraising
• enable members to benchmark their development programs against those of other institutions
• compile and report national trends in fundraising at medical schools and teaching hospitals
