VA Research "Dear Colleague"
Attracts 31 Signatures
April 30, 2004 - An April 22 "Dear Colleague"
letter to appropriators on behalf of the Department of Veterans
Affairs medical and prosthetic research program attracted
the signatures of 31 Senators. Organized by Senators Jim Bunning
(R-Ky.) and Bob Graham (D-Fla.) the letter was addressed to
Senate VA-HUD Appropriations Subcommittee Chairman Christopher
Bond (R-Mo.) and Ranking Member Barbara Mikulski (D-Md.) and

to its veterans

the Administration's proposed budget "insufficient to
sustain current research initiatives or to provide the program
growth necessary to attract and retain quality staff."

(D-Wash.), Saxby Chambliss (R-Ga.), Susan Collins (R-Maine),
